Foo Cafe – Mobile platforms and game design as a pedagogical tool.

In this Think Tank on Foo Café will Henrik Andersen and Karl Johan Rosqvist from the Department of Media Technology at Linnaeus University to demonstrate its mobile application, the quiz-style game Campus Quest. Think tank will be conducted so that the participants get to test the game and compete against each other.
The game is an application developed for mobile platforms that is played in teams of 2-4 people. Teams receive assignments published in the current application, which then can be solved. These tasks can include everything from solving a mathematical calculation to physically move to other places.
Originally, the application developed for an item within an introductory course for undergraduate program interactive digital media. The students were there in a playful way got to explore new and existing technologies, while getting an insight into the topic of media technologies width. The platform, however, the dynamics and the strength to be adapted to other subjects, audiences and occasions. For example, one could imagine that a game session for high school students who are learning English receive assignments in grammar and vocabulary in the English language. Campus Quest could also be used in team building for companies with more light-hearted questions.
Henrik Andersen and Karl Johan Rosqvist working as lecturers in the Department of Media Technology at Linnaeus University. They teach including web design, design of interactive media, game design, web programming and teacher training in technology – ICT.
It is recommended, but not necessary, that the participants in this Think Tank have their own laptops.
Foo Cafe / Computer Association will provide refreshments and a sandwich in the evening.
