LU Lock Opens

Lund University has about 7500 employees and 42 000 students who need to move between different university locals. The University also has a large amount of visitors. They can be students from another universities who learn a single course or come to listen on specific lectures. Guest lecturers, craftsmen and consultants of various kinds are other examples of visitors who need to move inside or between university ‘s locals.

Like many other agencies, municipalities, county councils and large organizations, Lund University has a variety of locking and access control systems that do not work together.

Lund University would, however, be open and welcoming and therefore the need for a system, which increases accessibility and can be easily connected to new services and functions for the benefit of all thousands of users.

The innovation procurement LU LOCK is therefore asking for a solution that enables integration between multiple locking and access control systems.

– The goal is to achieve a cost-effective and freer movement of personnel within and between the different organizations that the university consists of, or collaborating with, say Jeanette Jakobsson, Procurement Manager at Lund University.

Vinnova is funding the project with 2.4 million (50% of the total budget) and its motivating the decision on: “LU LOCK has a good potential to be useful for several types by organizations that want their physical environments to be accessible, but still secured, both in Sweden and internationally. ”

For this innovation procurement we are looking for companies and innovators who can help Lund University in collaboration with Region Skåne Lomma Municipality to developing new innovative solutions for this open-source-based platform that gradually can be developed and work even outside Lund University .

LU lock has been initiated by a number of partners such as:
