Bridging the skills gap for innovation
in Smart and Sustainable Cities

Smart and sustainable cities are about knowledge, products, services and systems that will solve sustainability challenges in an increasingly urbanized world.

In this sense, there is great need for new skills and educational initiatives to help key actors to develop and implement sustainable solutions and technologies.

PROJECT GOALS
The purpose of this initiative is to develop a Pilot Project Training Program to identify and meet the skills-needs in smart and sustainable cities with a great focus on the infrastructure sector, especially in energy, water, nature-based solutions, and the built environment.

The design, format, and content of the education will be developed in close collaboration with a reference group. The first part of the initiative will be an in-depth skill needs assessment and aims to discuss specific challenges of the industry.

Another goal is to build long-lasting relationships between key actors of the industry such as the academia, public and private sector, and cluster organisations. The combination of different expertise will improve and enable joint collaborations towards smart and sustainable cities.

PROJECT PARTNERS
The project is funded by Region Skåne and led by Lunds Universitet, together with project partners Mobile Heights, Sustainable Business Hub, Future by Lund and H22.
